Tribals and Stripes!

20140521-101155-36715407.jpg

I love pattern mixing. It is a fun way to mix key pieces. I decide to pair my tribal pants with a striped boat-neck crop top. I bought the pants last year from a boutique and wore them once before. Funny enough, the first time I wore them, I mixed patterns as well.

What I wore: Bloggers & Brands Networking Event

20140503-234708.jpg

That very awkward moment when everything you’re wearing is out of season! Saturday I attended the Bloggers and Brands event in Harlem. I wanted to wear my spring pastel’s since the weather had some behavior this weekend. I wore a blush pink pleather skirt from H&M with a blush color sweater from Forever21. I paired the look with my Michael Antonio boots.

The Artist Mixer: Exhibiting work by Anthony T Morton

Saturday night I had the privilege of sponsoring an amazing series. The Artist Mixer is a series that showcases artist and entrepreneurs while providing them a safe space to network and perform. There were so many amazing artist there!  This function was put together by Coco Bella, a creative lover of all things art and all things fashion.  Her vision is to provide an outlet for artist to come together and display their talents as well as network and build relationships.  Everyone who walked through the door came prepared to promte themselves and their product.  The Artist Mixer was hosted by DaRuddest Jones, an amazing poet that is known for captivating an audience with her very raw and rugged poems.

Intimate Grind Apparel

One of my favorite urban brands is Intimate Grind Apparel.  The line is saturated with inspiration and empowerment.  One of my favorite pieces from this line is the “Power” sweater and the “Selfie” tee (both pictured below).  The Power Sweater is worn here by Dymond, owner of Intimate Grind Apparel.  Power is spelled out in reflective print giving the sweater a radiant glow.  Want these pieces in your wardrobe? Ambiance Couture Bowtie

The Bowtie has always been a very classic look.  It has evolved from it’s suit and bow tie uniform to an unisex statement piece.  Ambiance Couture Bowtie has capitalized off of that trend.  Silki, owner of this hand-made, hand-tailored bowtie brand, has mastered the art of mixing patterns and textures together.  These bowties are anything BUT boring!  Take a look at some of my favorite bowties from her collection.  See something you like? Performances:

The night was filled with amazing performances.  From music to poetry, the talent ran rampant through The Gallery Bar.  I definitely enjoyed the rawness of both Parlay (@parlay) and DaRuddest Jones( @DaruddestJones). They offered great energy and thought evoking words.  Empress Poetry was softer, sensual and mood setting.  It was the perfect contrast.  The music by Young Tef (@YoungTef) was a teaser!  She had presence and confidence.  Overall, the performances mixed with the vendors made for an amazing event!

What I Wore: The Artist Mixer

20140426-183722.jpg

Last night I had the privilege of being one of the sponsors for The Artist’s Mixer: Exhibiting works by Anthony T. Morton. I am in the middle of moving to a new apartment and I am sick so I wanted to pull off an effortless look. Something simple yet chic. I decided to wear denim on denim, boyfriend jeans with a denim top. I topped the look off with a statement piece.  My shoes are by Paper Fox, sold by Shoedazzle.  The metallic and iridescent mix was the perfect piece to make a statement on a denim on denim look! Get the details on the look below!

North Carolina Lovin’

20140413-105855.jpg

Who travels all the way to North Carolina to meet someone they’ve never met before? I do! Saturday morning, I hopped on a plane and flew to North Carolina to personally wish my friend Jenell a Happy Birthday. While Jenell and I have never met, she is the person responsible for Marshbar’s Closet. She is the web designer for my page and she designed the Victoria Skirt and the bunny ears that I’ve worn for previous photo shoots.

Tonight we surprised Jenell at a Wine and Design event. BYOB and paint your own picture. It was great!

I decided to wear an architecture dress with my tan, open-toe booties.  Get the details below!

Tweenologues

20140406-004910.jpg

Saturday I was apart of an amazing event produced by Bianca Golden of America’s Next Top Model.  In addition to Bianca’s modeling/reality TV career, she also has a youth organization.  On Saturday, the youth in her organization put together an amazing production entitled, “The Tweenologues.”  The diverse monologues touched a lot of today’s issues that teens go through.  It was a pleasure being a part of something so insightful and important to our youth.  I didn’t get to take many pictures at the event, but I did get a chance to take some pics with Bianca.  She also posed ever so nicely in her Beads of Hope bracelet.

Not quite all White

20140406-001614.jpg

If you haven’t realized it by now, brunch has become a vital part of my weekends. Saturday was no different. I went to brunch in all (off) white. Very risky when you’re surrounded by food. Still, I was able to pull it off and remain clean. I wore an off-white high-low button down blouse with a pair of off-white skinny jeans. I added my new JustFab open-toe ankle strap sandals to add a mild pop of color.
